Magali Lara (Ciudad de México, 1956). Vive y trabaja en Cuernavaca, Morelos, donde enseña pintura en la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos. Estudió Artes en la ENAP y es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte desde 1994. En 2023, Lara fue nombrada miembro de número de la Academia de Artes, CONACULTA, INBAL, MX. Reconocida en 2022 por 20 años de servicio en la UAEM. Ha presentado exposiciones individuales en importantes instituciones, como: Magali Lara. Cinco décadas en espiral en el MUAC, Ciudad de México; Magali Lara: Interior Landscapes en el instituto de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU) e ISLAA Duke House, Nueva York, EE. UU. (2024); y TRÓPICO FANTASMÁTICO: BORRAMIENTOS en La Tallera, Cuernavaca, Morelos, México (2023). También es reconocida por sus libros de artista, Lara fusiona texto e imagen mediante diversos procesos gráficos. En 2024 realizó la obra comisionada LA VOZ DE LA MONTAÑA, LETEO para la Bienal FEMSA en León, Guanajuato, tras co-curar en 2023 un proyecto sobre publicaciones alternativas en el Museo del Chopo, UNAM, y participar en la obra colaborativa WE CAN’T SLEEP junto a Carmen Boullosa para la Fundación DIA en Nueva York.
Además, ha sido reconocida y premiada por diferentes instituciones como la Medalla al Mérito en Artes otorgada por el Congreso de la Ciudad de México en 2019, la Medalla a Bellas Artes del INBAL y la Secretaría de Cultural en 2024, así como una beca del Sistema Nacional de Creadores para el periodo 2021-2023.

Magali Lara (Mexico City, 1956). She lives and works in Cuernavaca, Morelos, where she teaches painting at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM). She studied Arts at ENAP and has been a member of the National System of Art Creators since 1994. In 2023, Lara was appointed a full member of the Academy of Arts, CONACULTA, INBAL, MX. She was recognized in 2022 for 20 years of service at UAEM.
She has presented solo exhibitions at major institutions, such as Magali Lara. Cinco décadas en espiral at MUAC, Mexico City; Magali Lara: Interior Landscapes at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University (NYU) and ISLAA Duke House, New York, USA (2024); and TRÓPICO FANTASMÁTICO: BORRAMIENTOS at La Tallera, Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico (2023). She is also known for her artist books, in which she fuses text and image through various graphic processes. In 2024, she created the commissioned work LA VOZ DE LA MONTAÑA, LETEO for the FEMSA Biennial in León, Guanajuato, after co-curating a 2023 project on alternative publications at Museo del Chopo, UNAM, and participating in the collaborative work WE CAN’T SLEEP with Carmen Boullosa for the DIA Foundation in New York.
Additionally, she has been recognized and awarded by various institutions, including the Medal of Merit in the Arts granted by the Congress of Mexico City in 2019, the Fine Arts Medal from INBAL and the Ministry of Culture in 2024, as well as a grant from the National System of Art Creators for the 2021–2023 period.
