Miruna Dragan (Bucarest, 1975) vive junto al Akokiniskway (río Rosebud) en Badlands en Alberta y enseña en Mohkinstsis (Calgary), las tierras tradicionales de la confederación Blackfoot. Miruna Drăgan (București, 1975) lives alongside Akokiniskway (the Rosebud River) in the Badlands of Alberta and teaches in Mohkinstsis (Calgary), the traditional lands of the Blackfoot confederacy. With an intuitive approach to a broad range of methods and materials, including drawing, weaving, collage, photography, moving image and installation, Drăgan’s works embody a subjective reimagining of archetypal, speculative, and symbolic spaces. She integrates natural geometries and the physics of light and colour with knowledge gathered through dreams and synchronistic observations to reflect themes of dispersion and transcendence. Recent exhibition venues include: Contemporary Calgary (2025), Doris McCarthy Gallery at the University of Toronto (2023), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo and Museo Regional de Querétaro (2022), Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver (2021), Living Art Museum in Reykjavík (2019), and Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro (2019). Drăgan’s work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts).
