Rob recibió su MFA de Carnegie Mellon University en 2011 y su BFA de la University of Louisville en 2005. El trabajo de Rob ha sido incluido en exposiciones internacionales como la Moscow Biennale for Young Art, en Helsinki, Estocolmo, y como participante en el 5th International Video Art Fest de Camagüey, Cuba, y en el Internet Pavilion de la 54th Venice Biennale. Gran parte de su práctica de estudio depende de los viajes y del trabajo comunitario junto a residencias a las que ha asistido, como Seoul Art Space Geumcheon en Corea, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, MacDowell Colony, Kaaysá, Yaddo Retreat, Jentel, VCCA, Vermont Studio Center y MASS MoCA; por nombrar algunas.

Much of his studio practice relies on travel and working communally alongside residencies he has attended, such as Seoul Art Space Geumcheon in Korea, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, MacDowell Colony, Kaaysá, Yaddo Retreat, Jentel, VCCA, Vermont Studio Center and to MASS MoCA; to name a few.
